Standard Bank Group renews soccer partnership in Mozambique
Standard Bank Group (SBG) has renewed its partnership agreement with the Mozambican Soccer League, the institution that organizes Moçambola, the main soccer competition in the country.
SBG's monetary investment in this partnetship has been doubled.
Antònio Coutinho, Managing Director of Standard Bank Mozambique, says the investment in sports stems from the alignment between the objectives of the bank, its clients and the general public. Soccer is king of all sports in the country.
Standard Bank Group, as a leading financial services provider in the African continent and in the emerging markets, has been, in scope of its social responsibility involvement, supporting the king of all sports in Africa, specifically in the countries where it operates.
"In Mozambique we had the opportunity to be the first financial services provider to cooperate Antònio Coutinho," says Antonio Coutinho.
He adds that the support for Moçambola is a platform to elevate SBG's continuous involvement with soccer into a higher standard.
According to Antònio Coutinho, this renewed partnership provides Mo?ambola more funds to improve sports conditions. Other sponsors, he says, will benefit from this as they will have more exposure in a league that is more competitive and of better sports quality.
"SBG also been recognised by many governament institutions for our contribution to the development of this sport in the country, which leads us to conclude that the partnership agreement was a good investment."
